Well our
time at Cowell came to an end on the 19th February and we headed
south down past Port Lincoln to Coffin Bay where we stayed at a
freebie until the 1st March about 20 meters from the waters edge.
Our stay was actually at Kaliepie Bay which is next to Coffin Bay at
our friends Norm and Kim's relatives beach shack. It was great to
catch up with Norm and Kim and hear about their travels since we
last saw them. We met Norm and Kim at Kurumba Point in 2004. Whilst
at Coffin Bay we had the opportunity to go out on one of the
professional oyster boats. When we returned to the sheds we helped
them sort their catch which was something different to learn.
We travelled into Point Lincoln a few times
which is the wealthiest town per population in Australia. It seams hard to
believe that the tuna fisherman can actually get $5000 per tuna in Japan. Helen
and I also traveled to Port Lincoln to see the Tunarama Festival, and another day to
watch the finish of a yacht race from Adelaide to Port Lincoln.
Whilst at Coffin Bay we went
to Farm Beach. At Farm Beach people bring their Caravans at Christmas and remove
them after Easter. They have to remove them because when the king tides come
their vans would be under water.
We loved driving around the sand dunes at Coffin Bay National Park.
Whilst driving around the sand dunes we had great views of the Southern Ocean. |
